Cloud Computing (Cert)
Overview
The Certificate in Cloud Computing is a 30 credit 1 year, part-time, fully online course, to produce graduates that meet the academic and practical standards of the national Cloud Computing industry. It is intended to provide students from existing IT backgrounds, looking to upskill, with Cloud specific knowledge. It addresses an identified skills gap in the ICT industry and gives students detailed knowledge in the key areas of Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud Architecture, Cloud Automation and Orchestration and Cloud Security.
Upon completion of the course, students will have gained the additional knowledge to design, develop, deploy and manage Cloud environments. They will also be able to apply security principles and measures to the various components comprising the Cloud infrastructure. Finally, they will have the ability to automate the various stages involved in the deployment and management of Cloud based IT infrastructure.
Career opportunities include roles such as Cloud Support Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud Systems Administrator, DevOps Engineer, Cloud Automation Engineer and Cloud Security Associate. With experience, graduates can progress to positions such as Cloud Solutions Architect, Cloud Migration Analyst and Cloud security Analyst.

This programme will be delivered fully online. Lectures are delivered using Zoom and labs are available 24/7 using MTU’s world-class private cloud environment.

Entry requirements
Applicants with an IT/ Computer Science related Level 8 bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) will be considered . Those with a Level 7 degree and at least three years of relevant industry experience may also be considered on a case-by-case basis. Entry will also be considered recognising the prior learning of applicants using MTU Recognition of Prior Learning policy.
Content
This intensive programme prepares students for work using the following modules, Object Oriented Programming, Requirements Engineering, Network Systems, Principles of Operating Systems, Data Management Systems, Server-Side Web Development, Cloud Architectures, Cloud Computing Infrastructures, Cloud Computing with Python and a final 10 credit project.
