The MSc in Software Architecture & Design is a 60 credit master's degree programme delivered exclusively online. The programme is delivered part-time by night over two years (four semesters). On successful completion, the student will be awarded an MSc in Software Architecture & Design.


The MSc in Software Architecture & Design is a 60 credit programme, the cost per 5 ECTS is €550.

  • Semester 1 (15 credits): €1650
  • Semester 2 (15 credits): €1650
  • Semester 3 (10 credits): €1100
  • Semester 4 (20 credits): €2100

The total cost of the MSc in Software Architecture & Design programme is €6,500. Fees can be paid in instalments of (€3250) each year or (€1650 + €1650 + €1100 + €2100) each semester. For further information please contact

Duration & Delivery

This is a two year part-time programme taught over 24 months (4 semesters). The programme is delivered and accessed fully online using state of the art Cloud based technologies. Lectures are delivered online by night, streamed live over the Internet and recorded to facilitate easy playback to students. This offers great flexibility for students who can access lectures and labs anytime, anywhere on any device that has a web browser.


The MTU programme code for this part-time online master's degree is KSADE_9_Y5. The year one class code is KSADE_9_Y5 and the second year class code is KSADE_9_Y5. These codes may be required when contacting staff in the Institute.

Admission Requirements

Entry to the MSc in Software Architecture & Design will require a minimum of a Level 8 honours degree in Computer Science, Computing or a cognate discipline. In addition to the above applicants will need to have a minimum three years experience working in industry as a software developer/engineer to be eligible to apply for the programme. Applicants who do not meet the above criteria will be considered on a case by case basis. Please see the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) page for further details.
