Ted is a lecturer in the Department of Computing at the Cork Institute of Technology. He has a BSc in Computer Science from University College Cork and a PhD from the National University of Ireland, Galway in the area of optimization and multi-agent systems.

His research expertise is in the area of data analytics, specifically in machine learning and meta-heuristic optimization. He has both led and participated in a range of multifaceted research and development projects focusing on the application of optimization techniques and machine learning algorithms (primarily classification and regression) to a diverse set of problem domains such as supply chain optimization, load balancing in wireless networks, micro-grid management and water and energy modelling on Irish dairy-farms.

Ted is also a member of the Ríomh research group.
